An A to Z of Colour

Blogging A to Z April 2013 Challenge

Here I am again. Making that attempt to complete a full month of posts (minus the Sundays). I managed it last year, it might be vaguely possible to do it again? Maybe, it would be a first on my part.

April 2013 calendar Blogging A to Z

In any case, this year I have decided to do the A to Z of colour. Not just about the colours themselves, but as the tools of our trade. I’m researching how the colours we use came about, their history, their many names, their properties and how we use them.

One of my inspirations for this challenge is this book, Artist’s color manual: the complete guide to working with color by Simon Jennings.

Artists Color Manual: the complete guide to working with color by Simon Jennings

I have gained so much insight into the colours I use by reading this book, and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is a stunningly designed book with beautiful photos illustrating colours all the way through. I believe it is one of my best book buys for my art book collection. At least go and have a look – click on the picture above and it will take you to Amazon where you can have a look inside (no, I don’t have any affiliations with Amazon (or anyone for that matter), I just like their Look Inside capability :D).

For some of the posts I am intending to do I will use this book as a starting point, but for others I will just revel in the wonders that are colours. I love my colours and I’d like to share them with you.

Best wishes,
Liz
