Paint Party Friday

Paint Party Friday

I have to say that I haven’t had much time this week to really get much done. I did do one watercolour sketch for Illustration Friday, but since then my nights have been either crash and fall asleep on the couch or manic costume making and food preparation for kindy requirements. I haven’t even made any in roads on my paper and jewels piece 🙁

So my sketch from earlier in the week…

Life is the greatest teacher

And to spice up this post here is a painting from the archives…

Afterwards

Afterwards, acrylic on board, approx. 300 x 300 mm

This painting was done nearly two years ago (full post about it here) and was also for Illustration Friday. Done in craft paint before I had any idea of what I was doing and while my youngest ws still a baby so done at the speed of light, but I have to say, despite its simplicity, there is something about those hands…and the fact it was an answer to the prompt ‘afterwards’.

So this is my submission for Paint Party Friday. And many, many thanks to all of you who left a comment or dropped in for my interview last week at PPF. Your kind words spur me onto greater heights. PPF peeps rule, so don’t forget to drop in on them over at the Paint Party Friday website and see some great art.

Best wishes,
Liz

  1. Both terrific pieces and especially love those wonderful hands. Happy PPF, Annette x

  2. Wow! I love those hands. The bottom piece just drew me in. Love the light in the middle, everything about it. Stunning work. 🙂

  3. I love the teacher illustration – so true as well. The afterwards painting is fabulous – I love the loose style. I makes me think of the after life I suppose but is that too literal – perhaps someone about to be hit by a car at night – those are the headlights and its at the point of impact where the thought of what comes afterwards might flash through the mind? It also makes me think of the scene in ET where his hand with the finger out is pointing up in front of the moon!!except of course these hands are more human in design!

  4. PPF peeps do rock!
